With Chance to Appear in National Magazine Spread
Jennifer O'Brien Named As One of Nabisco 100 Calorie Packs'
"100 Extraordinary Women"
Wins Trip to Los Angeles for L.A. Film Festival and Once-in-A-Lifetime Experience
Greene, New York June 20, 2008 - Those who know Jennifer O'Brien, you can attest to the fact that her everyday activities make extraordinary contributions. Now, the rest of the country will too. O'Brien is one of the winners of Nabisco 100 Calorie Packs' "Celebrating 100 Extraordinary Women" contest which searched for women whose contributions to friends, family, community and society have made a significant impact.
O'Brien was selected from among thousands of contest entries for her work with The Magic Paintbrush Project which provides a unique engagement program for special needs individuals, their caregivers and families.
"From helping military widows to raising money in support of ill children, it was amazing to learn what women in this country do to initiate positive changes in their communities and the lives of others," says Sheldon Cummings, Senior Brand Manager for Nabisco 100 Calorie Packs. The Star Treatment
O'Brien, along with the other winners selected, are slated to be featured in a two-page spread across national Time Inc. magazines, including: People, Entertainment Weekly, InStyle, Real Simple, Cooking Light and Health this October.
The winners will be photographed during an extraordinary evening celebration of the selected women at the popular X BAR in Los Angeles. Prior to that, the women will enjoy an afternoon at one of the nation's most "extraordinary" events - Film Independent's Los Angeles Film Festival presented by Los Angeles Times. There, the women will attend a private VIP screening and Q&A of the new independent women's interest film "Phoebe in Wonderland," with stars Elle Fanning (Dakota Fanning's younger sister) in her feature film debut, Bill Pullman and writer-director Daniel Barnz. Slated for theatrical release this fall, which coincides with the timing of the Time Inc. magazine spreads, the film also stars Felicity Huffman, Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott.
"Everyday" Extraordinary
Through her work with The Magic Paintbrush Project, O'Brien created an effective program which focuses on supporting the special needs community creatively. Jennifer's work gives family members, caregivers and individuals a chance to celebrate their ability in an environment which includes every member of the special needs person's care team. This innovative approach has directly impacted over 5,500 individuals in over 450 sessions.
Jennifer's enthusiasm has inspired the larger community's involvement. From community members, professional sports clubs, local civic organizations and major corporations; The Magic Paintbrush Project has the distinction of being a special needs program which "typical" families want to be included. Offering an environment where parents, caregivers, siblings and families can realize that there are no limits of participation, The Project has created a safe place to explore and celebrate ability. While assisting each family member to recognize their potential, O'Brien's work has also helped the larger community to see possibility where they once saw disability. The impact of her work can be seen and felt throughout the area.
Maureen Yacynych of Vestal New York submitted O'Brien's nomination. Yacynych will be traveling with Jennifer to this extraordinary event.
About the Program
Nabisco 100 Calorie Packs are tangible proof that "good things come in small packages," providing an easy, convenient way to include an extraordinary snack in ordinary routines without sacrificing taste.
